The legacy of the "King of the Flat-Tops" from Gibson lives on in the SJ-200™ Standard. From its inaugural appearance in 1937, the Gibson SJ-200 set an unmatched standard in looks and sound.
Embraced by everyone from early singing cowboy movie and TV stars and country superstars to folk and rock legends, the SJ-200 has been heard on countless recordings and seen on stages worldwide for decades.
The SJ-200 Standard continues the legacy of the world's most famous acoustic guitar and is certainly one of the most popular. It makes a sonic and visual statement like no other guitar ever made.
The SJ-200 Standard features back and sides crafted from gorgeous AAA figured maple, paired with a solid Sitka spruce top, which gives it a bold sound with excellent projection. It is finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer and available in a variety of colors.
The two-piece maple neck features a walnut stringer for style and strength. The neck has a comfortable Round profile and features a bound rosewood fretboard that is equipped with 20 standard frets and adorned with mother-of-pearl graduated crown inlays—one of the visual hallmarks of this iconic acoustic guitar.
The bound headstock is ornamented with the Gibson logo and crown, both inlaid in mother of pearl. High-quality gold Grover® Rotomatic tuners work in harmony with a TUSQ® nut to ensure smooth, solid tuning.
The body features the iconic SJ-200 pickguard and a two-bar Moustache™ bridge, another readily identifiable feature that distinguishes the SJ-200, made of rosewood. It is equipped with a TUSQ saddle and bridge pins.
A Gibson Modern hardshell case is also included, so the SJ-200 Standard is ready to join you on stage, in the studio, or wherever the road takes you.
The SJ-200 Standard is now fitted with the all-new Gibson-exclusive Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system. This active design utilizes two lightweight sensors mounted to the internal bridge plate, each paired with its own optimized preamp. The result is a natural, full-bodied amplified tone that faithfully represents the guitar’s inherent character, without altering its unplugged voice. The Baggs HiFi DNA system offers comparable gain-before-feedback to an under-saddle pickup. Discreet soundhole-mounted controls for volume and tone allow quick, intuitive adjustments on the fly, remaining virtually unseen by the audience. With its refined electronics and included hardshell case, the SJ-200 Standard is ready for both stage and studio use the moment it’s picked up.
